Word(s) is not enough!

No No No…it is not that I don’t have enough to write! Just that I have so much of it that the initial drafts of essays are exceeding 600 words when the limit is 300 (no extra points for guessing the school ;)). I had never thought that cutting down the words to meet the limit is going to be such a fretting task. I mean common…give us a little more space to tell you who we are, what we have done. (or is it a trade off between words and number of applicants ;)). No. A no is a no. 300 is 300. And this is what I am doing since last few days. But there are still like 350+ words out there. On top of that, even articles are counted as a word (ALPHABET getting counted as word – how expensive is that!!)

Counter view – they are making sure that what you write is not crow crap out there. Or even if you are, then you cannot ask them to look at it for more than 5 mins. So all that goes out there is what you write in gold (and sign in blood later…given a chance). And it better be worth it. Else you don’t know the value of time, precision, and most importantly gold! (no…it’s content). Hmm…fair enough considering that you are trading yourself against one of the top global B-schools. That you would be writing hundreds of mails per day and convincing thousands of ideas as your job later! So the word limit isn’t that bad you see. It is one of the first quality the applicant should have – the quality to be coherent and precise. First filter to separate grains from the hay. Lesson learnt. Points noted. It is time to cut down clean. ATB (300 words)

  1. Well said (2)

  2. I’d say that you are among those few ‘blessed’ people who have no dearth of words. Celebrate it. 😛
